Tony Hawk’s Stand Up For Skateparks Hits L.A., Las Vegas
Bell Sports and Tony Hawk are hooking up once again: this time for the seventh annual Tony Hawk: SHRED Presents Stand Up For Skateparks Benefit located at the home of Ron Burkle at Green Acres Estate in Beverly Hills, CA on October 17 and the Wynn Las Vegas, NV on November 6.
The two benefits are must-attend events for every skateboarder, BMXer, and music aficionado. There will be Vert Demos by Tony Hawk and an All-Star cast of pro skateboarders and BMX riders on Tony’s personal ramp. Billed as a “family-centric action-sports carnival” Stand Up For Skateparks also feature games, food, live and silent auctions, and musical performances.
For the Southern California event, Los Angeles rock n’ roll legends Jane’s Addiction will be pumping music through the air, and for the Las Vegas event DJ Z-Trip will spin a special set.
The Tony Hawk Foundation’s mission is to bring free, quality public skateparks to youth in low-income areas across the United States.
So far, they’ve awarded $3.2 million to 463 communities. Of the 463 communities awarded grants, 370 of those skateparks are currently open and serving approximately three million individuals, 75% of who are under the age of 18. (ESPN.com)
This year as a co-sponsor of the event, Bell Sports is sending along trucker hats, stickers, helmets and pads to be given away to attendees.
